Florida Road Rules Practice Test

Which of the following statements is false?

Defensive driving means you will change your driving to fit the weather conditions, the way you feel, and the actions of other drivers, bicyclists and pedestrians.

Hitting a vehicle head-on is better than hitting a vehicle moving in the same direction as you are.

The statement that hitting a vehicle head-on is better than hitting a vehicle moving in the same direction as you are is indeed false because it fundamentally misrepresents the nature and physics of vehicle collisions. Head-on collisions typically result in far more severe consequences due to the combined speed of both vehicles moving directly towards each other. The impact force is significantly greater in head-on collisions compared to side collisions or rear-end collisions, especially when considering the speeds involved.

In contrast, hitting a vehicle moving in your direction generally means that the combined speed at impact will be lower than in a head-on crash. Thus, from a safety perspective, it is crucial to understand that head-on collisions are among the deadliest types of vehicle accidents, making this statement incorrect and misleading for drivers who need to understand how to avoid dangerous situations on the road.

Once you have seen a dangerous situation, act right away to prevent a crash.

It is better to drive off the road than skid off when avoiding a crash.
